Good Sleep Important for Libido among Women
As per researchers from the University of Michigan, women who have sound sleep, generally have higher libido. The researchers spent more than two weeks in tracking sleep and sexual patterns of 171 young women.
The research team found two important factors. Firstly, longer sleep generally leads to more sex among women. Secondly, it also leads to better sex. The researchers said good sleep hygiene refreshes a person's mood, energy and concentration.
It is linked to increased sexual desire and arousal. The participants reported high physical arousal after having longer period of sleep, with average sleep duration to be seven hours, 22 minutes. The researchers said that what was most impressive, every additional hour of sleep increased the chances of sex on the next day by 14%.
"If there's anything women or their partners can do to help promote good sleep for one another, whether it's helping out around the house to reduce workload, planning romantic getaways, or just practicing good sleep hygiene, it could help protect against having problems in the bedroom", affirmed the study's lead researcher, David Kalmbach.
The research findings can act as a suggestion for women thinking to jump-start their sex life. Kalmbach, a researcher at the University of Michigan Sleep and Circadian Research Laboratory, affirmed that their study has very well explained that good sleep is vital to have a health sexual desire and arousal in women.
In the experiment, all the volunteers maintained diaries of their sleep for 14 consecutive days and also reported whether or not they had sex the next day. The researchers noticed that longer sleep time was associated with greater sexual desire the next day. For now, it is not known how lack of sleep might affect sexual desire.
