Global Warming and Climate Change set to Increase at Peak Rates

A study published in the journal Nature Climate Change has unveiled that the level of global warming and climate change will increase to such an extent that has never been seen earlier in 1,000 years.

As per the researchers, the Arctic, North America, and Europe would be the first places to see the transition. Steven Smith, a researcher at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, said, “Essentially the world is entering a new regime where what is normal is going to continue to change and it’s changing at a rate than natural processes might not be able to keep up with”.

The researchers assessed historical data and found that the temperatures over the last 1,000 years have fluctuated by 0.2°F per decade. On the other hand, warming trends in the last four decades have reached 0.4°F per decade.

It is said that the warming rates by 2020 would be more than what has been in the last 1,000 or 2,000 years. The researchers warned that temperature increase could peak at 0.7°F per decade. Northern hemisphere will bear the maximum brunt, as it will face warming never before seen. After that the Arctic, which is already considered to be the fastest warming area of earth.
