Hilary Duff files for divorce from Mike Comrie citing irreconcilable differences

Hilary Duff has filed for divorce from her former NHL player husband Mike Comrie. The couple announced their split last year in January after reports of his wild night in Beverly Hills emerged last year.

Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie married in 2010. The couple had earlier announced that they will co-parent their two-year-old son Luca. The divorce documents filed by Duff’s attorney Laura Wasser list January 2013 as the date of separation of the couple citing irreconcilable differences between both. Hilary has asked for custody of their son Luca.

Hilary has been concerned about excessive partying and drinking of Comrie could have a negative impact on Luca who turns 3 next month. She wants Comrie to have visitation rights but will ask for custody of Luca.

For their son, both have been keeping a friendly relationship over the last year. They were seen together at many occasions. The couple also went on holiday in Hawaii with their son after they announced the split last year. There were speculations in the media about their reconciliation.

In an interview with a health magazine in December 2014, Duff said, “We have a 2-year-old together. We love each other. Obviously it wasn't a rash decision that we made. We really are just trying to figure out how we are the most happy - whether together or apart - and we're doing it as lovingly as possible.”

Hilary’s mother Susan Duff had commented after their split, “They're better friends than a married couple.”
