US News & World Report: DASH diet is Best for Weight Loss
The US News & World Report has ranked HMR Weight Management Services (HMR), a subsidiary of Merck, as the Number 2 Best Weight-Loss Diet. The government-endorsed Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) grabbed the top spot.
In this whole ranking, the US News had evaluated 35 diets with the help of input from a panel of health experts. For a diet to become top rated, it needs to be relatively easy to follow, nutritious, safe and effective for weight loss, prevention of diabetes and heart disease.
The DASH diet which came at the top includes vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy. The best part is that this diet has been named the best overall diet for the fifth consecutive year. It has managed to outpace Weight Watchers and the Mediterranean diet.
Angela Haupt, senior health and wellness editor at US News & World Report, said, "The DASH diet has been our top diet overall for five years now and this is the fifth year we are evaluating and ranking diets".
She added that this diet will end up being very good for reducing the waistline as well as solving the problem of high blood pressure.
