Maine’s order of bond questions to be put on November ballot

Maine's secretary of state Matt Dunlap on Wednesday drew the order of bond questions that were approved by the Legislature in the last session to be put on the November ballot. Let's have a quick look at what the referendum ballot will read:

The first question will seek voters' 'yes' or 'no' on whether to they want to ban on the use of bait, dogs or traps to hunt bears, except in cases of protection of property, safety of public, or for research.

The second question will ask voters whether they would favor an $8,000,000 bond issue to support agriculture, facilitate economic growth of industries based on natural resources and monitor health threats related to various bugs.

The third question will ask voters whether they would support a bond issue to provide $4,000,000 in loans to small businesses and to provide another $8,000,000 in loans to small businesses to create jobs, revitalize and boost the rural economy.

Question forth and fifth will seek voters' 'yes' or 'no' for bond issues of $10,000,000 and $3,000,000 to build a research center to discover genetic solutions for cancer and other diseases, and to modernize & expand infrastructure in a lab specializing in tissue repair and regeneration, respectively.

The sixth question will be about a $10,000,000 bond issue to make sure availability of clean water and safe communities across the state; while the seventh question will be about a $7,000,000 bond issue to provide funds for the growth of marine businesses as well as commercial enterprises.

The order of the bond questions was drawn yesterday at Matt Dunlap's office at the Nash School Building in Augusta.
